I was having a bit of a Monday this week. Nothing terrible, but - you know how it goes. Guess what came through my letterbox and made everything better?

The lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] jordan_c_price sent me a copy of PsyCop: Property!

To make it even more fantastic, not only was my gift signed, it's also 1/3 dedicated to me! *twirls* Thank you, Jordan! You made my day.

I should probably admit that, although I bought PsyCop # 4 (Secrets) when it came out in e-book I don't have any way of reading e-books during my main reading time, which is my daily commute, so the second half of Property (which is the print anthology of Body & Soul and Secrets) was a new PsyCop story to me. Such a treat.

If you're at all interested in m/m erotic romance (and if you're reading this journal I rather assume that you are) and you enjoy paranormal stuff, cop stuff, and/or stories with really strong voices and a fabulous sense of location, I heartily recommend the PsyCop series.

In fact - here - have some handy links:

#1 - Among the Living
#2 - Criss Cross

#1 and #2 in print as PsyCop: Partners

#3 - Body and Soul
#4 - Secrets

#3 and #4 in print as PsyCop: Property

Plus there are several shorts and freebies set in the same world, which you can find at psycop.com

The folks over at Torquere Press have laid on a bundle of spring goodies - there are fiction and snippits and money off coupons hiding in the easter eggs. The contents will keep changing, but there's something of mine in the mix. Go take a look!

You all are angst-monkeys ;p Thank you much for the comments, and I'll work on the next instalment over the weekend ;)

The ever-wonderful [livejournal.com profile] tsuki_no_bara,wrangler of the first original fic ficathon which inspired mine last year, is back for a second round, with a new and nifty original fic ficathon structure for this year.

Go! Look! Sign up! Spread the word!

Actually - I lie - I haven't pimped this last month's High Ball yet, and I do get all godmother y and invested in the stories I edit, [even the ones I never post about because I am teh crap sometimes].

But this month's really is a delight - Trick and Seth - Navajo cousin-brothers - are a wonderful pair of characters with so many layers and secrets, and there are moments when the story is fantastically domesticated - in a you can smell the dust and taste the coffee and almost feel the heat on your shoulders and the slide of skin under your finger tips kind of way - and moments that are just down-right creepy. There's shape shifting and story telling and sex and surprises.

Check out My Brother, Coyote here [for other file types follow the link at the bottom] and to read an interview with the author, take a look here.

*****

Also
- I have Thoughts about the process of editing and how it's affecting my writing, and the communal aspect of doing it as beta-ing for friends vs doing it as work-for-the-press and [livejournal.com profile] logophilos's entry about finding a beta reader and the nature of those relationships, from a little way back, over at [livejournal.com profile] the_originals, but, fortunately or un, I have to get back to the day job instead. Hey ho.

Keep You by Cindy Rosenthal, aka [livejournal.com profile] tsuki_no_bara, [aka sweetpea and part of the brain!] is published today by Torquere Press!

Simon is hot, Jay is sweet, and there's some pretty damn fine smut to be had. I haven't read the entire novel in this format, but I was reading the first drafts, and I've been waiting for this polished version to come out so I can dive into, possibly never to be seen again. .
back of the jacket blurb )

911 by Chris Owen, aka my [livejournal.com profile] byrne, has finished its run on the Turn of the Screw line and is now available as a novel.

My blurb: Hot, sexy, great characters, tension... it's got it all. And, you know, firemen! :D

back of the jacket blurb )

Stepping Through The Mirror by Mike Shade is this month's High Ball, which means I edited it and have grown very fond of it. It's a lovely fantasy story, and you should go read the interview with Mike Shade and the teaser extract right now ;D

Honor Among Thieves by BA Tortuga Enoch is a connoisseur of fine gems. So much so that if he can’t buy the ones he wants, he steals them. Cormac is a slip of smoke, a fellow thief who brings Enoch the most beautiful tidbits, chief of which is Cormac himself. Enoch finds Cormac irresistible, and is determined to collect him.

The resultant adventure put a smile on my face every time I opened up the file to edit it. There's an interview and a sample to get your mouth watering here.

Also - this is the High Balls line's six month anniversary - they've gone past awfully fast. I'm still having a blast with the editing, even if it has slowed down my writing, and I just want to send out a quick thank you to all of 'my' authors, for their wonderful stories, and to the Press for giving me the chance to be involved.  And, of course, to everyone who's bought and read them!  Happy half-birthday ;)

Time for my monthly pimping session. Torquere Press has a new High Ball out today - Heat, by Tory Temple, which is firemen and hot guys in- and out of-  love. If this is your sort of thing, go! get!  Or ask for it for Christmas or something ;)  It was so much fun to edit with her, and I'm glad its out as a Christmas treat.

[livejournal.com profile] saunteringdown's new comic, 5ideways, launched today. It's creepy, and good, and you should go and look at it - preferably with the sound switched on, because there's occasional audio creepiness.

Also, a fresh batch of Torquere Press e-books : Need, which has a vampire and a hooker-boy and clubbing and all sorts of other good stuff which didn't ought to work, but has been done so well that it really really does. Really, a lot. and that's pretty much what my review says .... There's also Night's Kiss, an anthology of vampire lesbian erotica, which I havn't read yet, but I'm told has pirates, and Hyacinth Club, which is a delicious dip into sex-obsessed kinky Victoriana.

You my have noticed that things have been a little quiet around here. I'm kind of sorry about that. One of the things that's been keeping me busy, though, is editing for a new line of erotica novellas for Torquere Press, known as High Balls, and I'm really proud of the stories that I'm helping to publish.

The press is celebrating their two year anniversary as purveyors of high quality queer erotica with new novels, anthologies, single shots, three print books, and the new novella line, High Balls.

And the first High Ball : From The Get Go by Sean Michael

When easy-going Texas artist Dakin McBride makes his way to Ottawa, Canada for a showing, he meets Jeff Tamrin, ultra-competent manager of the Sussex Gallery. Despite coming from different worlds the attraction is immediate, and soon Dakin and Jeff negotiate their own brand of diplomatic relations, forgetting all about art or seeing the sights the city has to offer. They get wrapped up in the moment, both of them intrigued by what the feel for each other.

The more they get to know each other, the more they like what they see. Dakin has a life to go back to in Texas, though, and Jeff has his own in Canada. The two of them try to find a way to make their growing love survive in this fast paced High Ball. Get yours today!

I've also been writing a few reviews : Cowboy Up, the new cowboy themed anthology, Achillies Other Heel, and A Gentleman of Substance - I can recommend all three as excellent writing, although they're very different in style and setting, but you should check them out ;)
