I had an email from a reader earlier this week, who was looking for Favor, one of my Halloween stories that had long-since gone out of print, which was the kick in the pants I needed to get it polished up and up on Smashwords. (The cover may not be the ultimate cover, but the book is *there*, which is probably more important.)

You can now find Favor (now with British spelling restored, so it's Favour again) at Smashwords from whence it will - eventually - find it's way to Kindle, Kobo, Apple etc.

Bonus for loyal readers - use coupon CF85T for a free copy of Favour good for the next couple of days at Smashwords.

'Tis the natural cycle of these things, but over the last five weeks, two of my books have gone out of 'print' : Favor and Stay Tape are no longer for sale.

I must admit, it's a little sad to get the email saying that their time is up.

I'm not 100% sure what's going to happen with them - I'm toying with the idea of self-publishing them, Stay Tape probably on it's own, or with another Tawnholme story, Favor as part of an anthology of Halloween stories. Lord knows when I'll have the time to spend clambering up the learning curve to be able to do them justice, though!

Mostly, I really need to finish more things and submit them places, so my publications list is replenished and there are more stories out there in the world!

Rather than the better year I was hoping for, real life has found several news ways to dent my word count this year. I have actually written more this year than last, but a) that's a lot less than the year before that and b) 'written' is not the same as 'finished'. Must do better. *Will* do better.
I had plans for my Halloween story this year, but as the saying goes, there's many a slip t'wixt cup and lip. The new plan is that you'll get that next year.

Instead of the planned story, I have a little snapshot of the boys from last year's Halloween story, Micky and Rhys, on their one year anniversary, fresh of the keyboard, unedited, and so on. I hope it makes you smile.

Tradition

Rhys was half watching the muted black-and-white film on the tv, and half watching Micky. Micky was sitting sideways in the big battered armchair, tv remote resting in the space under his knees where his feet were tucked up against the arm, talking on the phone, and picking at the chipped black polish on his nails.

From Micky's half of the conversation, and the way his accent was just that bit stronger, Rhys had deduced that it was a member of Micky's family on the other end. Either his mam, his nan, or one of his aunties, most likely.

He ought to go back upstairs, where the problems for next week's seminars were waiting for him, but what was the point of Saturday afternoons if you couldn't slack in the living room for a while?

If you'd like to read about how Micky and Rhys got together, you'll need to pick up Favor. As I said last year, when it came out, Favor's sweet like candy, and it has laser-quest, fake fangs, and boys making out in graveyards. It's also on sale right now, and available for a mere $1.03.

Happy reading!

Obviously, I don't vanity-search myself often enough - I've just found a lovely little review of Favor, my Halloween college boys, over at Joyfully Reviewed - posted back in December.

Hurrah! I tend to write short, so that's my first stand-alone review, and it's very complimentary, with sentences like "Favor is a hot, fun story" and "if you’re in the mood for something sweet, hot, and unexpected, pick up Favor."  - thank you Cassie at Joyfully Reviewed!

So it seems fans of CBS soap opera "As the World Turns" are getting up in arms because there's not enough gay kissing on their screens - and all power to them!

(My TV show of choice at the moment is Torchwood, which certainly doesn't stint on the man-on-man lip-locking, but even in a more mainstream show, it does seem somewhat strange that 'As The World Turns' is backing away from showing Luke and Noah kissing in the same way any of the heterosexual couples on the show are shown, in the context of writing them into a long term gay relationship.)

It also seems a little odd to my English eyes that it's still an issue for the makers of US TV, and in that context I guess maybe As the World Turns should get props for the existence of the storyline, but the last time I can remember a flurry of protest about gay kissing on tv in the UK was about six years back, when complaints about a gay screen kiss in a mainstream, early-evening soap/drama, broadcast on a commercial channel, were turned down by the regulators on the - extremely sane - grounds that the gender of the people kissing on screen has nothing to do with how appropriate or not it is to air the kiss when kids can be assumed to be watching.

As it should be!

We're not talking about that rimming scene from the first episode of Queer as Folk (although we can pause while we all think about it ...) we're talking about someone kissing their boyfriend. I'm all in favour of people kissing their boyfriends, or girlfriends, regardless of their genders. Kissing is fabulous! Bring on the kissing!

In fact, lets have a little first-kiss action right here, from the boys I wrote about in Favor: click for kisses )

And to celebrate, I have an e-book out! Favour is one of Torquere's Halloween Sips. It's sweet like candy, and it has laser-quest, fake fangs, and boys making out in graveyards. If that sounds like your kind of thing, it's also a mere $1.29, so an affordable treat.
