This one takes place somewhere in January, and for the purposes of clarity, I should mention that this if from Ru's point of view. Also that Ru's real name is actually Trent, and his family still call him that.

"Trent. Trent! Phone! Do you want me to come in your room and wake you up by force?"

"I'm up, I'm up. Jeez."

He rolled out of bed, stumbled across the room, kicking clothes and random crap out of the way, and opened the door. "See? Up. Mobile. Who is it?":

"Trent." She looked him up and down critically and handed him the phone. "I take it you don't have work today."

"No. Thanks." Ru backed into his room, closed the door on his mom, and stumbled back to bed, where it was warmer.

"Hey," he said into the phone. "What's up?"
