I live in London. I commute to my day job by tube, which means I am the target audience for free newspapers - the morning's Metro, and the two afternoon contenders, who resort to having people thrust them into your hand whether you want them or no, turning the evening's journey into a battle of skill and cunning in order to avoid them. I do pick up the Metro occasionally, but mostly I use my commuting time to read whichever book's hit the top of my 'to read' pile.

Since this article was published on Wednesday, I think I've had two dozen people text, email, or mention it to me.

Personally, Brokeback Mountain's more likely to leave me in a cloud of bleak depression than hot under the collar**, and I can't say I've noticed the UK lagging behind on the female enjoyment of m/m, but nevertheless, it's not a bad thing to have the genre advertised in the mainstream press, and if there were women out there who were feeling alone and shameful about their appreciation of man-on-man action who read the article and as a result get to enjoy themselves more then - it's all good.

*(yes, my subject line's from Blur's Boys and Girls, and yes, I might have remembered it wrong ...)
** (it's a beautiful film, and a beautiful piece of writing, but it's not exactly a glittering rom-com.)
